Pan Liner Exemption

Pan Liner Exemption - 22 February 2022

We are supporting a campaign by the Food Packaging Association for pan liners to be exempted from the proposed UK Plastic Packaging Tax. Pan liners should not be classed as packaging yet HMRC defines them as packaging as they insist they perform a packaging function. This is despite HMRC agreeing to exempt silage wrap because although it could perform a packaging function it was designed to perform another function other than packaging. Pan liners fit this description exactly. To help this effort and to give us some facts to put before HMRC the FPA has set up a poll on LinkedIn and Twitter that they would ask you to vote on and also share as widely as you can amongst your colleagues and customers. The LinkedIn poll is here https://www.linkedin.com/posts/fpa-foodservice-packaging-association-_packagingtax-tax-packaging-activity-6898947116149153792-bveF and the Twitter version can be found here FPA(UK) (@UK_FPA) / Twitter
