Peter Puntrello of SubXpress in Peterborough - winner of a bundle of PAPA Awards, has been chosen to star in the X-Factor adverts for Just Eat - did you see him Saturday night?
Here's more from Peter himself telling us all about it...
Why did you choose to enter the competition?
Our local Just Eat manager suggested I should audition, he thought I had the voice and personality to do well. I sent off my audition tape and I can’t believe I am here today having the time of my life. I’ve sung since I was a toddler and I also used to be a DJ so I’ve always loved music.
How and why did you choose your audition song?
I sang That’s Amore as I thought it complimented my restaurant perfectly, it’s Italian and linked to pizza and pasta.
How did you feel when you found out you had got through to star in the idents?
After every stage I thought that’s it, it’s been fun and didn’t expect to get any further. But then I got to the final filming and I couldn't believe it.
Can you tell us a bit more about what the experience and process has been like?
Growing up you always dream of having this type of experience but to actually get to do it and go into a proper studio with a mixing deck, a proper mic and headphones was fantastic. I was pampered for two days with wardrobe, make-up and people getting me cups of coffee. To think I’m going to be on primetime TV and in The X Factor idents is just amazing.
Will your colleagues be tuning in to see your performance? What will you be doing?
Everyone is so excited, my family and friends are all going to tune in and watch it together. I can't wait to sign autographs - this is my first step to Hollywood.
Who is your favourite singer / band / idol?
Michael Jackson, I’ve seen him in concert three times and he is a born entertainer.
If you could choose one celebrity to perform with who would it be?
Frank Sinatra or for something more modern, I’d love to perform with Coldplay.
Who has been your favourite X Factor contestant?
Olly Murs, I’ve met him a few times at a birthday party and he’s just amazing. He’s such a lovely, down to earth guy and his music is absolutely great.
If you coul d have your performance judged by any of the judges, who would you want this to be and why?
Simon Cowell, he tries to be a tough cookie but I think he’s softie deep down.
Tell us a bit more about your role and the restaurant you work for / own?
I’m born and bred in UK and live in Peterborough. I started in the food industry nearly 40 years ago as a baker and then went on to making toasted Italian sandwiches, pizza and pasta as I saw a boom in the takeaway industry. I’m Pasta Chef of the Year 2015, runner up 2016 and also a delivery driver.
What’s your favourite takeaway food, aside from your own restaurant's dishes?
It’s got to be Italian, definitely the best cuisine in the world. I could never get fed up with it.
